Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actress, dancer and performer since the beginning of the 1990s. She began her Broadway career in musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. The play You Can't Take It With You in which she was awarded the Tony Award as Best Featured actress in the Play. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford is a veteran of her career collaborating with acclaimed directors and actors across the stage, film and TV and she continues that award-winning collaboration with a variety of upcoming projects. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani as part of Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently working for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust which stars Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The movie will air on Disney DTC as a Hulu Original. Ashford will be seen alongside Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the March 2023 revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who created Hamilton directed the show. Ashford's latest performance was Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. Ashford was a part of two seasons in the CBS hit comedy B Positive. It was produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Other Broadway credits are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford divides her time between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver & raised there.
