Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American actor, performer and songwriter for a number of years. She was raised by her mom within the USA she was subject to numerous racial insults which gave her feeling of being unwanted. When she went to a school competition and received the highest praise for her singing at the age of 9, the girl began to grow more confident. It not only boosted her confidence but also shifted the direction she wanted to go in her career. When she was 22, she received her degree from the Julliard School of New York. When she turned 23 years old, she launched her professional career on Broadway in Paul Simon's The Capeman. Then, when she was 23 she made her film debut in You've got mail. In the Broadway version of the original show Spamalot she portrayed the Lady of The Lake and was awarded the Tony Award as well as the praise of critics. In the year following, she was cast in the ABC program Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider appreciation for her performance. An accomplished singer and producer, she's produced one single and an extended work. She also works as an LGBT activist.
